I've been at this for well over a year now--i.e. blogging. I have my reasons for doing it, but they sure aren't the same as my reasons when I set out. Blogging has been an incredible experience--something that really surprised me. I will share my reasons for blogging in a later post, but for now I want to ask you all why you blog. Take a minute or to and leave me a comment.

Frankly, I don't know why I do anymore. Originally I did it out of my extreme love for writing. I was encouraged to continue due to a friend's leading.
However, I don't have but a couple of readers and ninety-nine percent of blogs don't get read. Plus, is there anything that can be added to the plethora of material already available?
I guess I continue for if I stop, I'd probably regret the pure enjoyment of writing.
I started my 1st blog as a way to keep our long distance family and friends up to date with photos and stories of our quickly growing kiddos.
Blogging has changed my life for sure...and now I blog to slow down and think about my life. I blog to count my blessings. I see it as an on-line scrap book of sorts. I hope to inspire and encourage my readers while being honest with my strengths and struggles. It's still a wonderful way to stay connected with family and friends.

I blog, therefore I am. Oh, sorry, sorry. Silliness got the best of me. I blog for fun. I blog for therapy. I blog to clear the cobwebs out of my head. I blog to clear the clutter out of my head (yes, cobwebs and clutter DO go hand in hand). I blog as a creative outlet. 'Nuff said? I think so.
Blessings,
~Toni~
I started because I was disillusioned with my life (being buried in diapers and laundry can do that to a person). I kept it up because of the high I got meeting people and reading about other people's lives. I love feeling like the world is beginning to connect on a level we never have before-- very powerful time.
I linked you and Miss Sniz in my side bar. I hope that's ok. I figured if I was lurking all the time, others should be too. :-)
Some of the reasons I blog are:
1) To express an occasional opinion that pops into my head. This could be religious in nature, about politics, movies or just overvations I have made.
2) To share my faith and beliefs about My Savior Jesus, His Holy Spirit and the Awesome God I serve.
3) To make lists...My OCD pushes me to make lists of things to do, or list of favorite things or other types of lists. If I list here, I don't "list" verbally to my wife, which drives her nuts.
4) To expand my sphere of influence and make new "friends". I enjoy reading other's blogs and I want them to hear their comments about mine.
5) Just because it's fun!
I started out blogging as a way to "get things off my mind" and onto paper-- after I'd been reading other people's blogs on reducing debt & money management, etc and I realized how much I really enjoyed reading blogs. So I thought I would start one of my own. My problem now though is my husband is a very private person and he has gotten extremely upset before with some of the things I have posted on my blog...so I can't REALLY be me anymore. I'm censored to an extent and that is hard. :-(
I guess each person ahead of me took the words out of my mouth.
I have been tempted to quit lately but then again, my blog has developed a life of its own and if I tell it to shut up it might start screaming insults at me; that is not something I can live with at this time.

I started out to record the spiritual lessons I was learning, in all their real details and in real time. I wanted to provide a "right here, right now" application of Biblical Truth for my kids. Then I met all of these wonderful people online. They made me ponder and consider things I hadn't noticed on my own. And I noticed that by writing the version of the events in my life in a way that showcased the positive, I was becoming more proficient at seeing my glass as half full - or more. It has helped me to see the many blessings in my life, and the struggles in others that proves I am not alone. Next I became disillusioned, sick of my own opinions and some of the nastiness I saw in comments to other blogs. And tired of feeling pressured to blog on a schedule that would garner "enough" commments. Finally, I think I've struck a balance. I blog when I want to and don't when I don't and visit others as often as I responsibly can. You and Sniz are special. You've made it to the short list of blogs I still visit, even if I mostly lurk here and talk there!
I blog for my sanity, to keep track of my life, as a journal for my children to look back on, and to make friends and keep in contact with friends from across the country.
Honey, since we've talked about this a lot, you know why I blog. But just so everyone here know that among many other great benefits, blogging has brought you and I closer as we read about each other's thoughts in a way that wouldn't be possible otherwise. And we've met several people we may not have met face to face, but consider good friends, many that are mutual. That is really neat!
It would be a long long comment to explain why I started blogging, so lets skip to why I blog now.
Mostly I blog because I love to write. And blogging is practice for me. I helps to keep my skills sharp and it helps to keep my mind flowing with ideas.
But now, I have so many wonderful readers from all over the world (such as your MRS) and it has been an amazing experience getting to know all of them through blogging. I would have never had this opportunity had I not started a blog.
I blog because it's fun. I blog because I'm much funnier at the 30 words per minute or so of my typing speed than I am at the speed of think-on-my-feet real life conversation. I blog because I live in a small town.
I blog because blogging introduces me to other writers who tell poop stories that make me snort my coffee all over my keyboard.
I blog because blogging tells me stories of a world much bigger than the little hick town I live in.
I blog because I've got stories to tell!
I blog because the voices in my head tell me to.
Plus it gives me a forum to complain, even if no one is listening. I live to complain. My complainatory gland is much bigger than any other gland in my body, except my oddity gland.
I blog so that my husband doesn't have to listen to the same things over and over again!
Why do I blog? Well, it satisfies my need to have my own little online magazine of which I get to be the sole editor. I love writing, and as a radio personality, I love informing people about stuff. Blogging allows me to do both!
By the way, Toni, you can actually get T-shirts that say "I think, therefore I blog"! Jollyblogger sells them on his site: http://www.jollyblogger.typepad.com/
Oh, and more people need to read Randy's blog! The content is excellent, always interesting, and Randy's a terrific writer.
