Spongebob Obamapants

Here in the Big Doofus household (great name for a household, right?) we love Spongebob Squarepants. I can remember many years ago when Uvulapie keyed me in on this show before it became the institution that it is today. And despite it's popularity, we still love the show. It's one of the few mindless things that we'll have on for the entire family so that means Nickelodeon is on quite a bit.

Nickelodeon has plenty of shows that we don't care for, but at least they remain politically neutral...right? Well, that's what I thought until they had a group of kids with Nickelodeon microphones come on with a remote they did from the innauguration. They talked about how significant it was that America had elected it's first African American President...and I agree. It's a huge deal regardless of where you stand politically. I thought the little Nick news report was fine, until the kids started chanting "OBAMA! OBAMA! OBAMA!" Is that crossing the line?

I call "indecent chanting."

I dare you to chant that in the security lines in the airport: "O bomb uh."

We love Sponge Bob too. And those kids have no idea who they are chanting for- other than what their parents and teachers tell them

Rog,

I was forced to watch Nick in the waiting room of a dental office. Now, I don't have kids so you know that Nick wouldn't be my first pick of a station. Spongebob was on and it drove me up a wall. However, I had to remind myself that "this" is for kids and parents need something to entertain them. Plus, with your comments saying they had been basically neutral, I guess I have to be a bit more lenient.

However, the stuff you mentioned "did" cross the line. It's all subjective to each individual though. What saddens me more is that much of this country is in complete hysteria over a guy that we don't really know what he is about or "what" he will do.

I grew up in the Roadrunner, Bugs Bunny era. A cartoon was a cartoon. I never saw a politcal sticker attached to "Bugs" derriere.

Be well Rog,

Randy

I'm so so on sponge bob. I think it's kinda funny BUT only once and yes, I'd say that was crossing the line.

I love Spongebob!

I would rather have him as our new President.

I don't care what color this new guy is.

He's just another 'Leftist', and that's all I need to know.
