What Color Is That?

Recently, I attempted to be creative with color names by using a term for "pink" that I don't normally use. Of course, I managed to screw it up with a typo and Scott from Honey, I Fed the Kids made fun of me pointed it out.

Ask a gal what color she would choose to paint her bedroom or car and you'll get words like jade, beige, chartreuse, lemon, apricot, teal, burgundy, etc. But I've decided to go back to the basics and invite the rest of the MEN with me.

So, in the words of Irwin M. Fletcher while impersonating an aviation mechanic by the name of G. Gordon Liddy:

Awww, come on guys, it's so simple. Maybe you need a refresher course. Heyyyyyyyyyy!

There are ELEVEN COLORS. Yep. Just eleven. Here they are...

Red
Blue
Green
Black
Yellow
Orange
Purple
Pink
White (now if I did that it wouldn't show up!)
Brown
Gray

If you want to get fancy and impress the ladies, all you have to do is make what I call, "Compound Colors." This might include blue-green, red-orange or my personal favorite, green-black.

Now go take on your day!

Green-black, LOL! Sounds like a hybrid olive.

Mauve adj. Any color derivative of purple and pink that would result in three different answers from a random sample of five men.

Even 11 is way too many. Come on, you know there are just three colors... red, green, and blue. Everything else is just gravy.

Wait-- Or was it yellow, magenta, and cyan? Light spectrum, paint, additive, subtractive... Yeah, Mr Kilmer's art class in ninth grade learned me real good.

I'm with you man. Stick to the basic colors. White is white not egg-shell or off-white. The paint stores love the fact that women and other designer types come up with all the new color combinations. More choices more money, but more headaches for us plain vanilla type of guys.

However my favorite color for our shutters on our old house was Confederate Grey (no I'm not a red-neck southerner, I just happened to like that color. I'm surprised I saw the color of that name.)

Come on, honey, stop being so manly and admit that you want to re-paint the kitchen mocha with espresso accents.

Shades of Brown. I might venture to add "Tan" to my color pallet. This would also create a new Compound Color called, "Brown-Tan".

Awwww Big Doofus, did my PINK blog get you talking about pink??!! LOL
I hope you noticed I changed my colors? Not sure what you call the color I'm using now - Blue-Gray?

When women were little girls, they got those big boxes of Crayolas with 64 crayons and the spiffy sharpener in the back. They were trained from the ground up to be picky about colors.

All us guys ever got was those big fat crayon set of 8 Crayolas.

Now they expect us to know what the heck those fancy colors mean.

We weren't trained for that!
