I know that there are people to the south of us who have had it worse, but we flooded today. The basement ended up with a few inches of water. Just a few days ago, I had a new sump pump put in because the existing one was dead. I just happened to go down there and was checking it out when I noticed it wasn't working and the back-up was on. Whew. But the amount of rain that we had today made it simply impossible for our pump (fully working) to keep up. I knew it was coming and we were able to get a lot of things up and out of the way to avoid any really significant damage. Of course, if the sun pops out and it gets hot, we could end up with some more heavy duty thunderstorms.
On a brighter note, my boy went out into the neighborhood ponds fishing today and managed to land a nice bass...

Great bass! And sorry to hear about the water. The sump pump backups are great, but we had them too in the country and you're right. They can only handle average to heavy rainfall. Monsoons are, uh,...a lil' much.
Blessings,
~Toni~
I am so sorry about the flooding, that really sucks. But thank goodness that you had checked the pump-maybe a God prompt:)
Hope the rain stops and clean-up is quick and easy.
"He caught you a delicious bass?" :-)
Sorry to hear about the water as well. The Indy Star website makes it sound like this is the worst flooding central Indiana has seen in decades. I'm glad my parents are on high ground and hope your family is too.
There's nothing like a deliscious bass on a sunny June day. Sorry to hear about the flooding. Didn't that happen once or twice when you were out of town? I don't mean to scare you but it sounds like you may have a hydrogeist.
Nice Fish! My husband would be jealous.
Our county was listed in the Disaster area but we don't have any flooding. Glad you guys weren't in the worst of it
He caught you a delicious bass!
