Why Do I Still Giggle At This?

I finally decided to take the Facebook plunge today. I have no desire to really get into Facebook, but I want to be able to see the pages of friends and family who have sent me links. So, don't get too excited. Personally, I'm a LinkedIn user. LinkedIn is like the Facebook/Myspace for business professionals (in my opinion).

Anyway, I was signing up and the immature schoolboy in me couldn't help but laugh at this...
Of course I will "select sex." But does this mean I can only select it on my birthday? It's just a weird way to select whether you're male or female. On a related note, I was pleasantly surprised that "male" and "female" were the only two selections.

I just got started on facebook too. I wasn't going to get all 'into' it, but I have to admit I'm totally hooked. I've found a lot of friends from my past and it's fun personalizing the page too. I used to do myspace, but it's too raunchy for me...never know what you're going to find. Anyway, have fun!

I think for the same reason that it makes me giggle when guys think that stuff is funny. We are just kids at heart.

LOL, yeah, its a good thing they don't leave the 'sex' field open for free-writing

heh heh heh... guy humor... the one thing feminazi's can't take from us... along with our inability to capitalize

I was forced to re-write an employment application for my job as a Catholic school teacher after I submitted a form where I had written in "often" in the blank that asked for "sex." Honestly, they couldn't determine that I was man after writing "Richard" in the name blank? Those nuns had no sense of humor.

I always seem a bit befuddled when it comes to that same thing. Sex and choose your selection. I always want an open-ended box where I can pencil in some off the wall remark like, "as often as possible." But, some might not appreciate my remark. (If my comment doesn't appear I know Roger didn't approve, grin!)

However, names have crossed over. I used to be proud that "Randy" was purely a guy's name. Not anymore. Now, there's "Randi" with an "I." Then, the unthinkable. I ran across a "Randy" with a "Y" that was female! I felt betrayed. With names like Kelly (Kelli), Terry (Terri), and so forth, you don't know for sure. Now get this! I was watching the credits for a movie the other day as I thought I recognized the actress who played this part. Guess what her real name is? Ready? James King! No kidding. So, maybe the sex question isn't as absurd as it may seem at first. Go figure.
