Mystery by Selah

I don't dance or juggle, but I DO play guitar, sing and write songs. The Elephant's Child recently took a brave step and put some of her poems on a blog. I think she's a lot like me in that it was NOT an easy thing to do (i.e. putting it all out there for people to view). I was also encouraged by an old (mid 40's, heh heh) friend to post some of my work and then there's Jason, who doesn't seem to shy about posting his work (which is also, sometimes, my work).

I'll start out with me singing a song by Selah in church a few years ago. It's not a professional recording--just my son with our video camera. But I love this song and will probably sing it at Christmas every year as long as I have a chance. In the future, I'll post some of my original recordings. There are a few bad notes here. Maybe you'll notice them.

I should also mention that the pianist is my wonderful mother-in-law.

Toni - we hold up our cell phones now. :)

Great job-- That's not exactly an easy piece to sing!

Rog,

It sounded great! I say this unbiased as well since we're friends. Sure, it's a bit scary to put your work out there. I knew that feeling a long time ago when I went into broadcasting. Keep up the good work.

It is scary to put your stuff out there for everyone, but I agree...very good. I love Selah too, and listen to Rose of Bethelem cd all year long. Can't wait to hear some of your originals. Hey, maybe I'll get brave and share some of my stuff too. Let the creative juices flow!!

Hi - I'm Sniz's and Toni's blog friend - I've actually been here a few times, a while ago. But Toni had the link up at her blog, so here I am.

I get the same feeling of nerves whenever I post my poems or fiction on my blog. Can't help it - that's just how it goes. But I do it anyway. Please keep posting your singing! This was awesome. You really handled a complex piece with assurance.

I have no problems posting songs about woodland creatures (including an upcoming song about fruit bats that might be the sign that my muse has returned from sabbatical) but asking me to put out something that doesn't mask my heart in silliness is an entirely different matter.

Frank, I was wondering the same thing!

I think you need an agent.

I will only take 60% of the gross and you get to keep 25% of all endorsement monies.

I've already got you booked for three Sundays at small Lutheran church in Peoria. But it'll just get crazy big from there.

(You were terrific! Wonderful voice!)
