License Plate Update

I have a few kiddos that read this blog, so let me state that today's post is rated "PG" which could stand for "Pretty Good" but in this case it stands for "Parental Guidance."

A few days ago I pointed out that there's something funny going on with the new Indiana license plates. Well, today I saw a few more that made me chuckle...

"845 ETC"
POLICE OFFICER: Sir, did you happen to catch the license plate of the person that ran into your car and then sped off?
CITIZEN: Yes I did. They were Indiana plates and it was "845 ETC."
POLICE OFFICER: Um....ok. Do you actually KNOW the last three digits of the plate?
CITIZEN: Yes, it was "ETC."
POLICE OFFICER: Ok. So what were the last three digits?

"245 AZZ"
Honestly, I don't remember the first three numbers of this one, but I sure as heck remember that this was the AZZ Car! It reminds me of an old Seinfeld episode.

License Plate Humor

In the state of Indiana we recently made a major change to our "basic" license plates. I emphasize "basic" because in addition to the standard plates it seems like we have about 100 other designs related to schools, the Colts, associations, pet dietitians, etc. (perhaps I made up that last one). Ever since I can remember our license plates began with two numbers which identified the county of your residence (e.g. "32" for my own Hendricks County), followed by a capital letter in a smaller font, and then four numbers.

The new standard plate (pictured above) utilizes three numbers, a space and then three letters. It's exciting, right? What a great idea for a blog post. Have a great day, everyone!

Ok, there really is a point to this. It seems like the folks at the license plate factory have a sense of humor. At first I thought I was just imagining this and then I noticed the plates in my office parking lot affirmed my hunch. We have the following "coincidental" combinations:

MIA
YAB
NIL

Come to think of it, this is still a very lame blog post. Oh well.

Meow Meow Butterpants.

Can You Relate to This?

I thought of this while driving home from the Childrens Museum (that's right, while the rest of you are contemplating art, poetry, dinner plans, what's on your dvr, etc., I'm thinking of things like this). I saw a familiar license plate cover--one that we've all seen hundreds of times on the road, usually affixed to a giant Mercury Grand Marquis (no offense to Grand Marquis drivers):

I've had a lot of experience with the kind of folks who drive vehicles like this with this type of license plate and I thought that the following might be more appropriate:

It was an easy Photoshop edit and I'm guessing that many of you can relate. Am I right?
